Do you need to use a school or university document abroad? We will take care of the complete process of obtaining an Apostille or Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation, including notarial verification and sworn translations. We ensure your diplomas, certificates and supplements are fully valid and recognised abroad – safely and without unnecessary complications.

General Information on Legalisation of School Documents

The Apostille or Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation can be arranged for the following school and university documents:

  • School report or certificate,
  • Secondary school leaving certificate,
  • Certificate of apprenticeship,
  • Conservatoire diploma including the graduate’s diploma,
  • Higher vocational school diploma including the graduate’s diploma,
  • University diplomas,
  • Diploma supplements.

To obtain an Apostille or Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation, the document must have been issued by a Czech educational institution registered with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Register of schools and educational institutions | Register of universities.

If you require legalisation for another school document not listed above (e.g. confirmation or statement issued by a school), it cannot be apostilled or superlegalised directly through the Ministry. We will instead arrange a notarised copy and then an Apostille verifying the notary’s signature.

In most cases you will need a certified translation of the diploma or certificate into the language of the country where it will be used. For Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation, the diploma or certificate must be officially translated into English or the official language of the destination country. Some countries also require the translation itself to be superlegalised.

Apostille of Diplomas and Certificates

An Apostille may be affixed either to the original document or to a notarised copy.

  • The Apostille on the original verifies the issuing school.
  • For diplomas, certificates and supplements, we can also provide an Apostille on a notarised copy – useful since universities often do not issue duplicates.

An Apostille can be arranged without a certified translation.

Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation of Diplomas and Certificates

Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation can also be applied either to the original document or to a notarised copy. We recommend using a notarised copy, as diplomas are often unique and not replaceable. This way, your original document remains untouched.

The diploma or certificate must be officially translated into English or the official language of the country for which the Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation is intended. Some embassies also require the translation itself to be superlegalised.

Certified translations are part of most apostille or superlegalisation cases.
As a translation agency, we naturally provide certified (official) translations into all major world languages as part of our service.

Notary services

We will take care of certified copies of your documents, or arrange for signature verification with our notary.
We can also convert electronic documents into physical form and obtain official extracts on your behalf — such as criminal record extracts or entries from the Commercial Register.

Acting on your behalf at the authorities

We will represent you at the authorities to obtain vital records or, for example, a criminal record extract, based on a certified power of attorney. This power of attorney can be arranged either at a Czech POINT office or at a Czech embassy or consulate abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is translation of the diploma or certificate required?

For Apostille: the document itself can remain in Czech. However, to be used abroad, a certified (sworn) translation into the target language is usually required.

For Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation: a certified translation into English or the official language of the destination country is required.

Is an Apostille required within the EU?

Yes, most EU member states require an Apostille on school documents to confirm their authenticity and registration of the issuing institution.

Do I need to give a power of attorney?

For Apostille – no power of attorney is required.
For Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation – some embassies (e.g. Thailand) require a power of attorney from the document holder. We will provide a template and you can have your signature certified at a notary or Czech Point.

Can you request a diploma or certificate on my behalf?

We recommend contacting your school directly to request re-issuance. Once obtained, the document can be sent directly to our address for legalisation and translation.

I am afraid to send the original diploma. What should I do?

That’s understandable. We can create a notarised copy while you wait and use it for Apostille or Superlegalisation / Embassy Attestation. You keep your original immediately.

Do I have to visit your office personally?

No, your document can be delivered by anyone, by post or courier (Překlady textu s.r.o., Senovážné náměstí 23, 110 00 Prague 1). Please include your contact details and a short note about which service you require. We can also arrange international courier delivery via DHL or FedEx.
